Due to the unprecedented demand we are in the unfortunate position where we are having to put a hold on new entries to our waiting list for cats to come into our care.

We will be reviewing the situation from week to week with a view to reopening the waiting list, we thank you for your understanding.

Welcome to the Cardiff & Vale Branch of Cats Protection

For nearly 100 years Cats Protection have been helping cats through a network of over 200 regional Branches and 34 Adoption Centres, and has gone through many changes.  More locally, in the last 20 years the Cardiff and the Vale Branch has faced many difficult challenges, and we are now busy rebuilding, and hopefully expanding, the Branch to help cover the significant increase in calls for help we have seen recently.

We are an entirely volunteer run Branch, with no fixed premises or full-time, or paid, staff or premises, and cover the following postcodes areas;

CF3; CF5; CF10; CF11; CF14; CF15; CF23; CF24; CF37; CF38; CF62; CF63; CF64; CF82; CF83; CF91; CF95; CF99

We work hard to help improve the lives of cats and kittens by promoting responsible ownership and finding loving new homes for the cats in our care, offering support with neutering (including Trap/Neuter/Return work in feral colonies) and lost & found cats within the Cardiff and Vale area. We also help with the control of feral colonies by trapping, neutering and returning (TNR) the cats to their own environment.

Our Branch Committee consists of a small team of volunteers who perform a variety of roles, covering bespoke areas of work, with each team leader having volunteers below them working in their area of work. These teams cover a wide range of tasks on both the cat welfare side and the supporting work that needs to be done to enable us to do the cat welfare work.  These roles include Fundraising, Social Media, general Admin (inc a Treasurer and Secretary), etc. Whilst of the cat welfare side work includes Fostering, arranging cat Admissions, arranging Adoptions, organising neutering work, TNR work, lost & found, cat and supplies transport, etc...

We try to hold regular Fundraising events to raise money to help us help more cats and kittens and to pay the enormous vet bills they incur. These are a chance for all the volunteers to get together, raise some funds and catch up with cat chat.

Most of our volunteers have full time jobs and busy family lives and others are of retirement age or older, but we all spend our free time doing what we can to help when we can, and with such wide-ranging roles there is always something we can find to suit you.

If you think you would like to help, have a look at our current vacancies on our Volunteer page, or simply get in touch.
